Hi, I was at OSNCamp in San Fran last fall (as were several other RCC folks). I met Paul Horan there. He has been tracking our conversations here, and he asked me to make this announcement:

    *****************************************************

    A Call for Participation

(or some good feedback as a hopeful minimum)

    2.21.09

Envisioning wiki-enabled contests as gifts for future generations (1) ...

Generally, let's explore what kinds of support-systems (socio-tech infrastructures, collective tool-sheds for designer-participants, etc.) are necessary for such open-contests to contribute to robust sustainability in general and human thrivability (2) in particular.

Specifically, open-contests aiming to produce best-in-class learning resources for young Students can serve as decent organizing principles for designing such wiki-enabled support systems.

And more specifically, focusing such contests via lenses like "ecosystems studies" (3) and "being a good ancestor" (4) can help anyone/everyone learn what's actually sustainable.

Assuming we humans are capable of passionately contributing both good will and original thought to the design of our evolutionary guidance systems (5), then let's have fun collaborating on the design and delivery of such contests and the kinds of open support-systems that enrich our global/local public good ... the kinds of supportive efforts for which all folks 7 generations from now are likely to say something like:

"Wow!!! I'm so grateful we humans started enjoying wiki-enabled contests back in 2009!"

    (1) thanks West Churchman

    (2) thanks Jean Russell

    (3) thanks Arnie Schultz

    (4) thanks Michael Maranda

    (5) thanks Bela H. Banathy
